Training the provider in assessment and intervention skills for the infant, child and adult cardio-respiratory arrest, and how to intervene when someone is choking. Chest compressions are objectively measured. Instruction in defibrillation and BVM are also part of the course content. This is a Heart and Stroke/ AHA course

Course Highlights:

  • BLS Bullet Points

  • Call for help and a defibrillator if you can't wake the patient up

  • Carotid pulse, look at chest for movement 5-10 seconds

  • If no pulse, start CPR

  • Continue 30 compressions/2 breaths (one cycle)

  • Re-check carotid after 5 cycles for 5-10 seconds

  • Continue until help arrives
